Call for Non-Fiction Proposals

We seek non-fiction proposals for text-only books about popular music, design, technology, computing, typography and related subjects. Please note that we are less interested in memoir (although it’s not ruled out altogether) and more interested in hearing from writers who are interested to write histories of different musical styles/subcultures, contemporary design, design history, literature, material cultures and more in that area. Aside from people who specialise in non-fiction writing already, academic work adapted into a more general style would suit this brief (as would creative non-fiction).

Please submit your proposal to non-fiction at dostoyevskywannabe dot com and include the following:

  • 2-4 paragraphs on the scope of the book as a whole and the subjects that it covers;
  • Your CV/resume, including email contact details, any social-media accounts and personal websites;
  • A draft table of contents for the book and a rough date of completion;
  • A draft introduction/opening chapter of around 2000-3000 words;
  • A second chapter from elsewhere in the book of around 2000-3000 words;
  • Your proposed final word-count;

Please note that the obscurity of the subject-matter is not necessarily of any great concern for us. Obscurity is welcomed. This is about interest as much as it is about sales.
